Happy Friday! Welcome back to our weekly feature – Foto Friday – Where, When, Why (“FFWWW”)!
FFWWW is a forum for all of us to share our favorite travel photos and the stories behind them. Last weekend, TravelWhimsy and I had the pleasure of going hiking with travel blogger Stefan (aka “The Rapid Travel Chai”). Today’s photo was chosen from those taken during that hike and I will let TravelWhimsy tell you why she thinks it is significant.
- Where: Red Rock Canyon, Las Vegas, NV (Keystone Thrust Trail)
- When: January 2013
- Why: Rediscovering a backyard wonder with a new friend.
It’s easy to take for granted the natural wonders in our own backyard when we’re busy daydreaming about the next great travel destination. This past weekend we had the great honor of hanging out with intrepid travel warrior and fellow blogger, Rapid Travel Chai, for an afternoon of hiking followed by great eats at a local Asian food joint. We took the opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with one of our favorite outdoor spots in Las Vegas, Red Rock National Conservation Area. The weather was perfect and the conversation so enthralling we managed to get lost on our way out (oops!).This picture pretty much sums up the hike from my vantage point – always trailing about 200 feet behind the guys. I can personally attest to the fact that our friend Stefan lives up to his online moniker “Rapid Travel Chai – Travel fast and smart and linger only in memories” – he even had Mr. Travelbypoints struggling to keep up at some points (kudos to him for that!). It was wonderful to finally meet in person a kindred spirit who shares our travel philosophy and appreciation for the great outdoors. We look forward to hanging out with you again soon, Stefan!
